A lifetime of "looking for the humor" has earned Carl Hurley the reputation of "America's funniest professor."
Carl grew up on the banks of the Rockcastle River in Eastern Kentucky. Home was a three-acre farm "on a 45-degree angle" and a favorite pastime among family and friends was swapping yarns. "We'd tell ghost stories and then get afraid to go home," he recalls.
In the years that followed, Carl brought his humor to bear on the world outside the hills and hollows of home. He earned degrees at Eastern Kentucky University (EKU) and a doctorate in education from the University of Missouri, Columbia. He then returned to work at the Kentucky State Department of Education, and for eight years was a popular education professor at EKU.
On this recording, Carl demonstrates that all of his looking has paid off: He has found the mother lode of hilarity and is happily sharing it with us.
